Donations for Moro Foundation educational initiatives, 31.08.2010

The Moro Foundation supports the educational programmes and needs of students in IB international schools in Slovenia. The Foundation’s support programmes contribute to the quality of education, developing international awareness, lifelong learning skills, and improving the social lives of children and teenagers who are far away from their homes, families and social environment. We are proud to announce that one of our supporters is Her Majesty Queen Rania Al-Abdullah of Jordan.

For the 2010/11 school year we plan to raise funds for computer equipment on behalf of students and teachers at Danila Kumar Elementary School. We would like to buy 40 new computers to ensure that students have up to date and relevant equipment and resources.

All donors will be thanked on our web page, www.morofoundation.org, and those who donate enough to buy one or more computers, will be given logo placement on the new equipment, as a sign of their contribution, and be further promoted on our webpage.

Moro&Kunst and their customers have already raised additional 10,120 Euros, after expenses for our educational support programmes during the 2009/10 school year were covered.

We would really appreciate your support to realise our expanding programmes by encouraging your employers and business associates to participate in our fundraising efforts.

STUDENT EXCHANGE PROGRAMME
, 10. 05. 2010

From 22nd – 25th April and 6th – 9th May, a student exchange programme between Danila Kumar in Ljubljana and Costeas-Geitona in Athens took place with the kind support of the Moro Foundation.

The students stayed with their host families and the programme included whole-day programmes, which combined workshops and excursions in Slovenia and Greece, and allowed the students to promote themselves, as well as become familiar with a foreign culture, language, school system, lifestyle and habits.

The time simply flew by and both students and teachers are very satisfied with the exchange, since the programme was extremely rich in content and very well organised. This invaluable experience offered all the participants great opportunities to find out more about a foreign country. We would like to thank the Moro Foundation once again for all their trust, help and support in bringing this project to life.

New assistants at Danile Kumar school, 13.04. 2010

“We are pleased to be hosting several new assistants who will be helping us over the next three months,” said Irena Šteblaj, Head of the International Department of Danila Kumar Elementary School.

Moro Foundation invited Ana Zuffova who is a PYP teacher from Spojena škola, Bratislava and who will be working in PYP.
A new assistant at school is also Vince Masincupp from St Mary’s College Maryland, USA. There are two more students from Spain, Lucia Sanchez Navarro and Judith Rodriguez Martinez, who will be assisting in kindergarden classes under the EU Erasmus programme.

Slovenian students will go to Athens and Greek studenst will come to Ljubljana, 10.03.2010

In cooperation with the Moro Foundation, which will support the project financially, we plan a student exchange programme with the Costeas – Geitona School in Athens for our Grade 8 students this academic year, which can hopefully be extended to other IB partner schools in the future.

During April and May 2010 we will organise a visit for grade 8 students to Athens, with a similar visit to Ljubljana by their age peers from Greece.

The proposed dates are as follows:
22 April to 25 April 2010 Greek students come to Ljubljana &
6 May to 9 May 2010 Danila Kumar students visit Athens.

The Moro Foundation will finance the activities (excursions & sightseeing, some meals and events) and other expenses (organisation and expenses for teachers on duty); students’ families will be required to pay for the plane tickets and host a visiting student.

Both schools aim to arrange intercultural activities on the Friday, excursions or sightseeing and social events on other days. We are sure that this is a fantastic opportunity for our students to learn about another school and country; and gain experience of a different culture.

All children enrolled in the Danile Kumar international kindergarten were presented with a set of colouring pencils by the Moro Foundation. The children and their teachers were extremely pleased as the pencils were no ordinary colouring pencils but a special series of Swiss made water-resistant colours Caran d’Ache.

Besides this the children received a visit from Santa
